How to request deletion of your account and associated data
At BookSwitchr, every user has the right to delete their account and associated personal data. This page describes the account deletion process and information about which data will be deleted and which may be retained for legal or technical reasons.

Below are detailed instructions for deleting your account directly from the BookSwitchr application:
Open the BookSwitchr App
Launch the BookSwitchr application on your device and sign in to your account if you're not already logged in.
Go to Account Settings
Tap your profile icon in the bottom menu of the app to navigate to your profile section.
Open Settings
In your profile section, look for "Settings" or "Account Options". This is typically found at the top of your profile page or in the menu.
Find Account Deletion Option
In Settings, scroll down to the "Security & Privacy" section and find the "Delete Account" option.
Review Warning
The system will show you a warning with information about the consequences of deleting your account. Please read it carefully.
Confirm Your Decision
Tap the button "I Confirm Account Deletion". You may need to enter your password or verify your identity.
Receive Confirmation
You will receive a confirmation email at your registered email address confirming the deletion request. The deletion process will begin immediately.
Alternative Methods to Delete Your Account
By Email
If you have trouble deleting your account through the app, you can send an email to:
support@bookswitchr.pl
In your email, please include:
•Email address associated with your account
•Username
•Clear statement: "Please delete my account and all associated data"
•Optionally: reason for deletion (this is not required)
Through Support Form
Alternatively, you can contact our support team through the contact form available in the app by selecting the "Delete My Account" option.
What Data Will Be Deleted?
Upon confirmation of your account deletion request, the following personal data will be immediately deleted from our servers:
Profile Data
Usunięte: First name, last name, username, profile picture, date of birth, gender, biography, phone number
Przechowywane: None
Location Data
Usunięte: Latitude and longitude, location history, location preferences
Przechowywane: None
Account Data
Usunięte: Password (encrypted), login history, session tokens, app preferences
Przechowywane: None
Offers and Lists
Usunięte: All active offers, wishlists, saved searches
Przechowywane: None - all offers will be marked as deleted
Communication and Messages
Usunięte: Private messages, conversations with sellers and buyers (optionally)
Przechowywane: May be retained for dispute resolution (up to 12 months)
Reviews and Ratings
Usunięte: Your reviews and ratings will be made anonymous
Przechowywane: Retained anonymously for statistical purposes
What Data Will Be Retained?
For legal, technical, and business reasons, some data may be retained for a specified period:
Transaction History
Retention Period: Up to 7 years
Reason: Legal requirements for taxes, regulatory compliance, dispute resolution, and fraud prevention
Security and Audit Logs
Retention Period: Up to 24 months
Reason: Fraud prevention, security breach investigation, and platform security maintenance
Backup Data
Retention Period: Up to 90 days
Reason: Data recovery in case of data loss
Anonymous and Aggregated Data
Retention Period: Indefinitely
Reason: Analytics, service improvement, market research
Account Deletion Timeline
Below is the timeline for the account deletion process:
0-5 Minutes
Your deletion request is received and confirmed. Your account is marked for deletion.
5 Minutes - 2 Hours
All personal data is permanently deleted from our main databases. You will not be able to log in to your account.
2-24 Hours
Data is removed from cache and auxiliary systems. Your profile is completely inaccessible.
Up to 30 Days
Data is deleted from backups. The deletion process is completely finished.
Important Information
⚠️ This Action Is Irreversible
Once your account is deleted, you cannot restore it. All your personal data will be permanently deleted. Make sure this is your final decision.
Active Transactions
If you have active transactions or paid offers, you should complete or cancel them before deleting your account. After account deletion, billing issues may arise.
Security
If your account has been hacked, do not delete it. Instead, contact us at support@bookswitchr.pl to help you secure your account.
Product Reviews
Your ratings, reviews, and opinions will be made anonymous but may remain on the platform for statistical purposes and to help other users.
